Research Manager - Data projects

Our data team generates the most up to date and most centralized data insights and reports on the Dutch tech ecosystem. We find trends, developments and focus on maintaining and improving the future of the Dutch innovation cycles where we see tech as the flying wheel for growth. Your role is to make sure we focus on the right trends, address the correct audiences with insights and information that matter to them and you gather relevant data for our ecosystem partners. Topics that we might focus on are VC investment, the talent landscape, the gender pay gap and many more topics that influence the Dutch playing field in an ever growing international setting.

Full-time · Amsterdam

Your role and responsibilities

As a Research Manager your role is to signal trends and developments in the Netherlands and abroad that are relevant to our tech ecosystem. For this to be successful:

  • You will conduct research on the Dutch startup and scaleup ecosystem. Think about how specific government initiatives, policies or regulations influence the Tech ecosystem (like the 30% ruling). What can our event team do to improve their NPS for the founder communities? And overall: how is the Dutch tech sector doing compared to international standards and historic developments?;

  • You will write easy to grasp content on the data insights we gathered that can reach a wide audience and will be used in different ways (from internal MarCom team to governmental decision making);

  • You will work together with our data team and different external partners on reports we create or that are out there or that are around and just need to be translated into insights for our specific audiences (think State of Dutch Tech, quarterly VC insights f.e., but also structured storylines on important and emerging topics);

  • You will design data solutions for stakeholders (like government, founders and internal team) by deciding which research projects will be executed based on input from stakeholders and insights provided by the data we have collected;

  • You really like to translate data into insights and follow trends proactively. You understand the startup and scaleup ecosystem and know which data can help the ecosystem further;

  • In a way you advise the government on the current state of affairs and help them push the public agenda forward and onward on (deep)tech in the Netherlands.

Your background and experience

Apart from your skills to work well in a team, communicate clearly and know your way around a difficult stakeholder field you have a passion in translating complex data to easy to read and insightful and relevant use cases. Next to that you bring additional experience as well:

  • You have experience in conducting research and/or worked as a (data)consultant or business analyst;

  • You understand the (deep)tech startup and scaleup ecosystem and its dynamics;

  • You are able to clearly translate data into insights through storytelling and communications (aka you know how to write and speak well towards different audiences);

  • You have an analytical mind that sees patterns, logic and connections (you have skills in data analysis and statistical methods in other words);

  • You have worked with data tooling (like Excel, SQL, PowerBI, CRM (f.e. Hubspot));

  • Ideally, all of this is supported by a Bachelor or Master diploma in the direction of statistics, economy, data, or a related field and around 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Note: for this role we will only consider people that live in the Netherlands already and hold a valid working permit (VISA or other)!

This is what you get in return:
Next to your salary (t.b.d.) you will get 8% holiday allowance, 15% pension allowance for you to allocate, a great home- and BYOD allowance, travel allowance, unlimited holidays, hybrid working setup (2 days WFO / 3 days WFH) and a full time contract (40 hours per week).
